SPECIAL TROPICAL DISTURBANCE STATEMENT NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 400 PM EDT THU SEP 20 2007
A RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT INVESTIGATING THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE IN THE EASTERN GULF OF MEXICO FOUND A BROAD CIRCULATION CENTERED ABOUT 115 MILES WEST-SOUTHWEST OF ST. PETERSBURG FLORIDA. THE AIRCRAFT WILL CONTINUE TO INVESTIGATE THE LOW THIS AFTERNOON...BUT THERE ARE NO INDICATIONS YET THAT THE LOW HAS BEGUN TO ACQUIRE TROPICAL CHARACTERISTICS. THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY WITH THIS SYSTEM REMAINS LIMITED AND DISORGANIZED. HOWEVER...THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME A SUBTROPICAL OR TROPICAL CYCLONE OVER THE NEXT DAY OR SO AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD OVER THE WARM WATERS OF THE GULF OF MEXICO. ALL INTERESTS ALONG THE NORTHERN GULF COAST SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM.

He is just reposting the NHC’s advisory, which is in all caps. Not sure how he would put everything in lower-case, aside from re-typing the entire piece.
I think we’re gonna get some of it.

a reconnaissance aircraft investigating the area of low pressure in the eastern gulf of mexico found a broad circulation centered about 115 miles west-southwest of st. petersburg florida. the aircraft will continue to investigate the low this afternoon...but there are no indications yet that the low has begun to acquire tropical characteristics. thunderstorm activity with this system remains limited and disorganized. however...this system has the potential to become a subtropical or tropical cyclone over the next day or so as it moves west-northwestward over the warm waters of the gulf of mexico. all interests along the northern gulf coast should monitor the progress of this system.

It’s cheaper to use all capital letters. Since most posts use common punctuation rules, there’s a surplus of the upper case letters. Use all caps, save a few pennies.
That’s the way she got it from the NHC...they always use caps. If Weather Underground has it, it’s not in all caps. I couldn’t find it at Weather Underground.
I understand what you’re saying, also understand that’s the way the NHC issues their alerts...having said that, for people like me with MS related optic neuritis the caps are a welcomed thing. ;)
The NWS issues all alerts like that. I guess they’re so excited for something to do that they can’t help shouting.
Yeah. I guess you’re right. It would be kind of hard to do it unless you just re-typed the whole article, which would be a waste of time.
The NWS keyboards don’t have a caps lock key way to expensive.
