Well, doing it on grown men certainly will decrease sexual activity for a while.
“Privates on Parade”!
This is SO misguided. For one thing, in Rwanda HIV is markedly MORE prevalent among the circumcised (also true of Cameroon, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, and Tanzania).
Second, in conjunction with last year’s African HIV-circumcision trials, pre-sexual boys were found more likely to already HAVE HIV if they had been circumcised (African circumcision techniques spread HIV).
Third, the guy says circumcision will protect the man and the woman, which was NOT even claimed by the studies. In fact, a bunch of the men with fresh circumcision wounds infected their partners.
CONDOMS protect man and woman from HIV, AND they prevent pregnancy. For $1 billion per year, the UN could supply EVERY man in Africa with 4 condoms per week. Sounds like a lot until you consider what we’re spending now.
Abstinence, monogamy with a faithful partner, and always using a condom outside of a faithful monogamous relationship are the only effective ways to prevent HIV infection and other sexually transmitted diseases.
