If you took out those two cities, California would be overwhelmingly Republican.

I'm afraid you overstate the redness of the golden state. I live on the coast south of SF. There is a slightly red tinge around Monterey because of all the retired and active military. Other than that the coast is rat heaven from Big Sur to the Oregon border. Look at the makeup of the congressional reps in the greater bay area. On second thought, don't. It would make you sick.

Maybe if you took out L.A. and S.F. the state would be slightly republican, but to be sure you would also have to remove some or all of the following: Oakland, Berkeley, Sacramento, San Jose.

How is the drive going in CA to get the proposal on the ballot to give out Electoral Votes per Congressional District rather than winner-take-all?

Can anyone give us an update?

The very, remote possibility of that has the Dems crapping down both legs.

Clinton leads Rudy Giuliani by ten points (50% to 40%) and Fred Thompson by eleven (50% to 39%).

I see Rudy is working that magic hat trick he and other supporters claim can turn blue to red. A 1% difference in support. Wow. Sure is electable.

We might as well stay here, regardless of how much we want to escape this liberal hellhole. When the folks in conservative utopia find out where we came from, they’ll just think we’re fruits, nuts and flakes, just like the folks in the land we fled from!

My apologies for those states suffering from migratory California-itis. We had nothing to do with the insanity that prevails here and spreads elsewhere.

I’m not a big fan of that initiative. I think it is shortsighted and could *really* screw stuff up.

If we think gerrymandering is bad now, just wait until each CD counts as an electoral vote!

I suspect those pushing some (not all) of the redistricting initiatives are already trying to game that system.

However four of the most southern coastal counties voted Republican: San Diego, Orange, Ventura and San Luis Obispo.

I kind of feel like if the original system is tampered with, it will backfire somehow. I’m not too sure about this, but if it scares the dems that bad, it might be a good thing.
