I like the American Spirit tobacco as much as the next guy but I was under the impression it was grown in New Mexico, where AS is located. It’s my understanding they buy it from North Carolina. Great stuff but why do I need to pay for NC tobacco to be shipped to NM, then shipped to my retailer?

I like American Spirit better than any other tobacco I've tried. As to your question; AS actually has a plant in NC and Utah also if I'm not mistaken. All of the tobacco is grown in NC, at least the American grown is, but they ship from NC, NM and UT also.

On that same subject; AS wanted to have tobacco grown by actual Native Americans (Indians to us old timey right-wingers) in NM in order to help the economies of the tribes. (Not to mention their marketing leverage which is fine by me.) That was before the quota system was abolished and the FedGov said "can't do it." Now that the quota system is defunct I wonder if AS will try it again.?.
