Same with me. I travel a lot and I do watch people very carefully when I do.She doesn't need to prove it to me. At the airport I worked at(before 9/11) we had a plastic bomb(three plastic rods and an alarm clock) for security checks. It made it through the xray every time.
I’m willing to bet she is going to say that she thought the security was in reality so bad that she could get through with it and make a “point”.
It’s still possible to beat security. Someone who is dedicated enough to do it will find a way. I’ve always said that eventually they will find a way to take down or over a plane using only the items already on the aircraft.
