Our theme for today comes from George W Bush: Freedom is the desire of every human heart.
When the president uses the phrase, hes invariably applying it to various benighted parts of the Muslim world. There would seem to be quite a bit of evidence to suggest that freedom is not the principal desire of every human heart in, say, Gaza or Waziristan. But why start there? If you look in, say, Brussels or London or New Orleans, do you come away with the overwhelming impression that freedom is the desire of every human heart?
A year ago, I wrote that the story of the Western world since 1945 is that, invited to choose between freedom and government security, large numbers of people vote to dump freedom the freedom to make your own decisions about health care, education, property rights, seat belts and a ton of other stuff.
Last week freedom took another hit. Hillary Rodham Clinton unveiled her new health care plan. Unlike her old health care plan, which took longer to read than most cancers take to kill you, this ones instant and painless just a spoonful of government sugar to help the medicine go down. From now on, everyone in America will have to have health insurance. Hooray! And, if you dont, it will be illegal for you to hold a job.

That headline creates a mental image I would rather not contemplate.
No bets...yet.
What amazes me is that the Hillary type of health care has not worked in any country where it has been tried. What the hell makes her think it will work here? Failure follows national health care.
Great photo! Scary and effective...but I would add the DMV. I tell people that it would be like going to the DMV, but everyone is sick with runny nosed children running around and crying loudly.
Bend over for Nurse Hillary
The UK's famous ('infamous' is of course more accurate) National Plan is SO bad now that the huge influx of wogs is absolutely guaranteed to break it, once and for all. Give it about 5 years, I think. They'll put the usual non-fixes into place, more taxes and the lot, and won't even come close to restoring a workable system.
It's entertaining, though. New hospital horror stories in the press at minimum every week or so. Waiting for treatment for 4 days while sitting on a gurney in a corridor is my favourite...so far. Seems to happen quite a bit, too.
I can't imagine why, can you?

What kind of health care will Hillary! choose for herself and First Load-y Willhelmina? I’ll have what they’re having.
Why don’t the “Olympians” in Congress propose we all get the same kind of health care coverage they give themselves?
No, I wouldn't change it. The changes in airport security were recent and stark. Most voters are old enough to remember just waltzing into a terminal and boarding a plane without having their luggage combed through and enduring a strip search.
Funny, the Left gets all bent out of shape thinking George W. Bush might be personally reviewing what we check out of the library but they apparently have no problem at all with Hillary Clinton able to access everyone's medical records.
Exactly. I want the same benefits the elitist socialists have. /sarcasm
Throw these pigs OUT! Dismantle their benefit package.

For the record, the move from freedom to fascism (fascism is not the same as Nazi) started before 1945. It just moved faster under FDR.
Call a spade a spade and you’ll make people mad, even here on FR. I got into it with some Freepers when I dared to call out their pet government projects.
People love the security of having the Government make their decisions for them.
Freedom is messy and dangerous. That’s why so few people want it.
Have I mentioned my new company? We sell medical insurance that costs $1 per month. If you need medical coverage, it will pay 50c per visit, for the first 2 visits. After that you're on your own, but it will at least be legal for you to work.
DUDE...When is your IPO? I want in!!!
I’ll buy stock too.
