“Why arent these people being taken in by some Muslim country?”
About 2 million of them have been, iirc. Mainly Jordan and Syria.

Good for them. And thanks for the information.
I generally see Jordan as a Muslim country with leadership
trying to do the right thing.
I fear the leadership of Syria simply looks at them as a new
pool of Hezbollah fighters to send to Lebanon. Or wherever Syria
wants "to stir the pot".
Other than that, I suspect (especially) Syria doesn't mind serving
as a trans-shipment point for spiriting in more "agents of influence" into
the USA.
With the USA paying the bill.
And I do still have misgivings about making legal residents
(and eventually US Citizens) out of the "cut-and-run" demographic of
the Iraqi populace.
But then, I'm a radical.
The sort that says "Let's show the folks in Darfur the USA really cares.
Air-drop tons of MREs (rations), water bottles, M-16s and plenty of
ammo. And maybe a hundred Green Berets to teach the folks from
Darfur to not take any crap off the Arab Muslims."
