The IDF sent Israeli Air Force fighter jets after a Syrian aircraft that disappeared from IDF radar Saturday.

According to IDF sources, the Syrian aircraft was later found on the Syrian side of the border, after it had crashed.

The IAF jets found no evidence of the aircraft attempting an attack and proceeded to return from their mission safely.

they should have made sure it crashed on the Israeli side, or at least in Israeli territorial waters or a third-party nation...

this might be considered an act of war...

No. Having it “land” inside Syria telegraphs that syria is owned, and prevents Israel from being forced into open war.

Be interesting to note if one of the IDF fighters came back with an empty rail and exhaust soot...

Hello, Raytheon? ... We'd like to order some replacements AIM-9Xs...

Wonder who Norway bought their radar from. And whether its 'compromisable'.

Something is afoot, and it's called winning the WOT. The proxy nation stuff is past, now it's down to the principals, and the West won. We won!

I can't thank Israel enough for stripping our enemies down to their pathetic nakedness.

I was gonna say Israel doesn’t want a war. Syria knows it can do what it wants to do without causing one.

I’m guessing that the IAF thought the Syrian plane went below their radar to penetrate Israeli territory. So they investigated.

Good point. It’s my educated guess that the Israelis were in the air real fast, and into Syrian space. If you monitor takeoffs by satellite, it gives a bit of a jump.

AWACS is probably just as good. I've heard of an exercise where an E-2 (Navy's little AWACS) picked up the aggressors during taxi and takeoff roll. Needless to say, it wasn't much of a fair fight or exercise. The aggressor element was jumped from a very advantageous angle the moment they entered the exercise area...

“Did the Syrian airplane crash with help from the IDF?”

Nah. Highly trained pilots in state of the art airplanes crash all the time. About 1 time out of 1000.

Syria knows it can do what it wants to do without causing one any reprisal from any nation.

Syria and Iran have been getting away with too much for too long. Our "politicans" need to STFU and let the military DO what needs to be DONE!

The ones who "betray us" are in Washington, DC!
