Estimates of the metro area's Hispanic population range from 34,000 to 100,000, and about one in 10 babies born in Shelby County last year was Hispanic. The size of this population has led to the development of a parallel society where Spanish dominates.
Aztlan keeps growing and growing! Another mile marker on the road to CW2.

Estimates of the metro area's Hispanic population range from 34,000 to 100,000, and about one in 10 babies born in Shelby County last year was Hispanic. It was circa 45,000-50,000 in 2000, the year of the federal census. Officially, the Census counted 27,520 Hispanics in the Memphis MSA, a 239 per cent increase over 1990.
I left in May 2004, though I'd been working out of town for some time.
