Now George. Let's get serious here. As Ron Paul placed ahead of many of the frontrunners and the only two people ahead of him was a guy getting ready to drop out of the race and a guy heavily donating to his own campaign there's only a few lessons that can be learned here

-Straw polls don't matter.
-Spammers got to them
-Ron Paul had smelly supporters there, one even with a beard
-Democrats secretly invaded a Republican only vote and skewed the results

Now if enough of the 'right' guys had been ahead of Rep. Paul (say for instance a washed up actor who constantly pats his knee or rambles on incoherently in every video I've seen of him) the lessons learned would have been

-Paul supporters can't even place in a straw poll, which are early indicators of where the electorate is looking
-The 'uneducated' were finally kept out of an important straw poll
-Everyone there was the right 'sort' of people we want in the Republican party, no unwashed limited government sorts or people that look different than we do

You see? That's the way to grow the ever shrinking Republican base....
