Men are smarter (and more stupid) than women, say scientists
The Daily Mail ^ | Sep 23, 2007 | Neal Sears

For centuries men believed themselves to be smarter than the fairer sex, who they felt were only equipped for wifely duties.

Now a study has revealed that the male of the species is actually more intelligent - but he's more stupid as well.

When scientists measured the intelligence of more than 2,500 brothers and sisters, they found a disproportionate number of men in both the top 2 per cent and the bottom 2 per cent.

There were twice as many men as women in the smartest group. But there were also twice as many men among the dunces.

The subjects were tested on science, maths, English and mechanical abilities.

The average scores of the men were virtually identical to that of the women.

One of the study's authors, psychology professor Timothy Bates, said the phenomenon may have its roots in society's expectations for the sexes. Men have long been expected to be high achievers, while women were expected to base their lives around the home.

Professor Bates, of Edinburgh University, said: "The female developmental programme may be tilted more towards ensuring survival and the safety of the middle ground."

The research tallies with past findings that men at university were more likely than women to receive first class degrees or thirds - while women tended to achieve seconds.

The argument was always that men were more likely to take risks with their academic arguments, which could either be successful or fail dismally. Women, it was suggested, were more steady in their learning.

Seven years ago, however, a study of British universities indicated that women were achieving more first and upper seconds than men. Men, however continued to get more thirds.

Some believe the change is due to the increase of coursework at the expense of exams, which favours women's steady approach.

martin gross pointed this out years ago in a book on medical practice.

in his opinion, the feminists had eliminated many of the top iq males,

substituting less intelligent females in med schools.

I believe men ‘used’ to strive harder because they were considered the breadwinners of the family.

Nowadays the feminists WANT to be as powerful as the men so they strive for higher positions.

Feminists and libs in general also want to ignore the difference at the nether end by letting the convicted dunces out of jail.

This has been known for decades...and has little to do with social expectations. Sheesh, the next headline will read “Scientists Discover Water Is Wet” - and then link it to race, sex, and class.

I wonder if women are prettier, and uglier, than men.

Looking at todays staggering statistics at the Universities, I would say it’s about time our sons stop relying on this phony “I’m smarter than you” attitude and get back to work.

When it comes to Hillary, well she is just a liar, not as good at it as her hound dog companion. That’s why she has low likability — People instinctively know when she is lying, which is most of the time.

But this is one of a long string of rah rah Hillary pieces pumped out to shore up the abject stupidity of the public and try and con them into electing her.

So men are more extreme on both ends. In my anecdotal observations, that seems to be true no matter what the subject. Men are just generally more extreme, whether for good or ill, than women.

Usually.

These queerish, misfit academics apply the only thing they know (ie. conducting lame studies) in grandiose efforts to understand basic human nature.

If they weren't such sheltered and naive losers, then they would already "get" the truths and small facts-of-life that they occasionally discover and write about.

Things that normal people already know by intuition and daily experience.

In my experience the most strident Bush hating fanatics are women. By far.

Go figure, eh?

This woman will not vote for her for the sake of humanity, regardless of how many stupid studies are put out about gender.

She thinks like a commie and she doesn't have a son.

Don’t know about that, I know some pretty strong women who have what I would call far out views.

Hillary for one, who exudes all the trapping of a true Marxist, and would likely act on it if given the chance. Read her colege thesis, and you will see who she was when she was young, and how she has gotten more extreme as she got older.
