Definition of allege: To assert without or before proof.
Definition of attack: To set upon with violent force.

The tape shows an attack, about 5 boys beating and kicking one boy. To say “alleged attack” gives the impression that a) The boy who was attacked has no proof or b) it hasn’t been proven to be an attack. Even if the boy in some way provoked it (not saying that he did, just speaking hypothetically), he was still attacked. Five boys beating one boy, no matter what the reason, is an attack.

I learned a hard reality in High School that some folks only understand violence and can’t be reasoned with. That is one reason why I carry...

Bump. As with the Jena six (for which the BBC also used 'alleged') there was obviously an attack. Alleged should not be used.

In this case, the question is whether it was racially motivated or whether there was some motivator.
