Don’t we always hammer the unions for doing this kind of thing so early? And why not Duncan Hunter? This comes off as another of those Fred/Rudy/Romney/McCain is a tier 1 candidate self-fulfilling prophecies and I don’t think I’m the only one who does not like that.

You raise a good point, in that there is more than one good candidate for the NRA to choose from. But they aren't endorsing right now. By Feb-March of next year, it will be time for those who have not broken 10% to start heading for stage right.

By Feb-March it will all be over. 1,986 delegates will have been won by the end of March. 1,259 are all that's needed to clinch the nomination out right. Conceivably, we could have a nominee on Feb. 5th.
