Scott Pelley conducted a very tough interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad which aired on Sunday's 60 Minutes, but on Monday’s Early Show Pelley was very generous in his personal assessment of the man. Host Harry Smith and Pelley agreed that Ahmadinejad is "crazy like a fox" while Pelley also hailed Ahmadinejad as "incorruptible" and "modest." Pelley contended the dictator, who denies the Holocaust, wants Israel destroyed and is causing the deaths of U.S. soldiers in Iraq, is a lot smarter than Westerners believe and is even a "friendly" guy:
The important thing, I think, Harry, to understand, he's described in the West as a madman, crazy, that's not the case. I found him to be as many politicians are, very engaging, very friendly, he's clearly not mad, he's sane. In fact, he's very wily I would tell you.
Maybe Ahmadinejad should announce his candidacy for 2008?
In perhaps the clearest attempt to soften the ruthless image of the Iranian leader, Pelley was awed by Ahmadinejad's down-to-earth nature:
He is genuinely religious, genuinely humble, there are no fancy clothes, fancy cars, he lives with his wife and his three children. They live in an apartment in Tehran. He is a very modest man and said to be absolutely incorruptible as well, he's a fascinating character.
Clearly a model of virtue.

Exactly. Good memory. The media was so busy groveling at Andropov’s feet, they failed to notice he was dead. Then they had to replay the same tape for the next guy.

God warns us that we are in a battle not with the powers of this world but those of a supernatural nature. Liberals don’t believe such things and are easily befuddled by the likes of Ahmadinejad. He is a child of Satan, the very Satan who God calls the father of lies and many other equally evil names.
God tells us that a man is known by his works, not by his words. Even the most cursory examination of the deeds of Ahmadinejad reveals his nature and just whose side he’s on.
And what really bothers me is that as intelligent as Ahmadinejad is, most of us are just as dumb. There’s no other word for it. Day after day, week after week, month after month, etc. we see the evil that his man and other minions of Satan turn out and proclaim to be in honor of the god they worship. Forget their words, look at their deeds.
Even if Dean Bollinger made a complete fool of Ahmadinejad at Columbia University, and I’m not conviced that’s the case at all, nothing, NOTHING he said and none, NONE of the points he made will never be seen by any of the billion or so around the world who will take Ahmadinejad’s appearance to be further proof of his power over the the US.
I know it’s a waste of time, but I call on President Bush and every member of his administration to c point out point by point the lack of truthfulness in every word that came out of Ahmadinejad’s mouth. Stand up, be counted, let the world know that no matter how taken they are with this demon in a human body there are those who know the difference and will point it out!
A failure to stand up be counted now will be paid back in suffering by an American city in the future. All the talk, talk, talk, blah, blah, blah that we let ourselves get drawn into by Ahmadinejad and Iran is doing nothing more than buying them time to complete their nuclear program. And how will we know when they’ve reached the point that their nuclear program can be used to change the course and history of the world? Very simple, they will use it as soon as possible and as completely as possible. Don’t think for a moment that they don’t know how quickly all their friends and supporters in the MSM and on the left will come to their senses when the first nuclear detonation takes place in Israel or Kansas City. The know that the response from the US and Israel will be devastating so they have got to make their first strike count and count big.
They will go along for however long it takes, making it look like they are ever so close to coming to their senses and abandoning their nuclear desires, but what they will really be doing is getting ready to launch as devastating an attack as possible.
God help us (literally) if the Reids, Pelosi’s, Kennedy’s, etc. don’t wake up and stop buying time for Iran to prepare for what they think is their date with destiny!
He already has several friends running.
