I have read that crime in Virginia is down 17% since George Allen convinced the legislature to do away with parole. He also made us "shall-issue" for concealed carry at the same time. So there is that additional deterrent effect.
Good news for CT.

Finally sanity! I have always maintained that no matter what the cost it is cheaper to keep criminals in jail than to release them.

The Legislature's Judiciary Committee ... is considering several proposals, including ... classifying home invasion as a violent crime to increase sentences...Sheesh, how much consideration does that one require before it is enacted? Who was the nimrod that initially said HI wasn't a violent crime?

The citizens of Connecticut needn’t worry...the Gay State’s new,oh-so-compassionate governor,Coupe Deval, has a soft spot in his huge heart for criminals (especially those who rape elderly women) and will, therefore, see to it that we make up for any shortfall CT might have in violent parolees.Keep a sharp eye on I-84 and I-91 all you Nutmegers!
