THE HAGUE, 24.09.2007.

Fadil Hasanagic, former commander of the 35th Division, BH Army 3rd Corps, confirms that the members of the El Mujahid Detachment were resubordinated to his division in the summer and fall of 1995. He is testifying as a prosecution witness at the trial of Rasim Delic, the former commander of the BH Army Main Staff. The Mujahideen trained for the operations together with the other BH Army units in the training area in Cardak, a location also known as the Ninth Kilometer on the road from Zavidovici

Fadil Hasanagic, former commander of the 35th Division, BH Army 3rd Corps, is testifying as a prosecution witness at the trial of General Rasim Delic. He confirmed that the El Mujahid Detachment had been resubordinated to that division in the summer and spring of 1995. Members of that detachment committed the crimes the former commander of the BH Army Main Staff is charged with, according to the indictment.

In the examination-in-chief, Hasanagic said that operations Farz and Hurricane had been preceded by several BH Army actions in the Vozuca area. The first was Sabur, launched in April. Two more actions followed in May and July 1995: Spring I and Spring II. Operations Farz and Hurricane were launched in September.

The El Mujahid Detachment took part in the operations Spring I and Spring II in the Vozuca area as a unit resubordinated to the 35th Division, the witness said. The tasks of the detachment Hasanagic commanded while it was resubordinated to his unit were specified in an order issued by the 3rd Corps command.

The prosecution tendered into evidence a video clip showing the witness touring the Cardak training area near Zavidovici. The units that were to take part in the forthcoming operations were trained there. As seen in the clip and confirmed by the witness, members of the El Mujahid Detachment were there too.

The Cardak training area was also known as the Ninth Kilometer because it was nine kilometers away from Zavidovici. The witness also confirmed that there was a camp at the Thirteenth Kilometer, where the El Mujahid Detachment troops were billeted. It was set up on his orders after the detachment was resubordinated to the 35th Division.

Among other evidence, the prosecution tendered the commendation signed by the witness that was given to the El Mujahid Detachment members as a token of gratitude ‘for all they did’ in the actions in Vozuca.

Former commander of the 35 Division will continue his testimony tomorrow.
