People think - quite logically - that “right” is opposed to “left” on a linear chart.

The bad thing is they think “fascism” is the OPPOSITE of “communism” (at least, since Hitler “dissed” Stalin - but not before). Hence, since it was well-established that communism was “left wing”, then the commies decided the “right wing” had to be “fascist” - why they call us “fascists”.

But fascism is a step to communism. It is not AT ALL opposite, but close to communism. Anarchy is the opposite. Somewhere closer to anarchy would be libertarianism. Which is much closer to where we are.

Imindeedajerk is much more a fascist than a freedom-lover, so he is actually closer to the left wing, and thus, what we’d call in the US, a liberal.
