This was less than 20 miles n/nw of me. I am only 5 miles from Brooks.

Close to 45th meridian too! Any meaning to that?

A meridian is a great circle through the geographical poles of the earth. (the lines are vertical on a chart),
I think you meant close to the 45th parallel.

"Half-way between the equator and the north pole" ... That's what the highway signs say.

(OBTW, it's the 45th Parallel. You may be thinking of the "Willamette Meridian," just NW of Portland, which forms the basis for all surveying west of the Cascades....)
