Couric weighs in on Iraq, Rather (True colors come out!!!)
Examiner ^ | 9/26/07 | Jeff Dufour and Patrick Gavin

Posted on 09/26/2007 5:50:45 AM PDT by teddyballgame

The former “Today” show anchor traced her discomfort with the administration’s march to war back to the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.

“The whole culture of wearing flags on our lapel and saying ‘we’ when referring to the United States and, even the ‘shock and awe’ of the initial stages, it was just too jubilant and just a little uncomfortable. And I remember feeling, when I was anchoring the ‘Today’ show, this inevitable march towards war and kind of feeling like, ‘Will anybody put the brakes on this?’ And is this really being properly challenged by the right people? And I think, at the time, anyone who questioned the administration was considered unpatriotic and it was a very difficult position to be in.”

Couric referenced comments made by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday’s “The Charlie Rose Show,” and said she actually agreed with Ahmadinejad on one point. “Oftentimes Westerners don’t really understand fully the values of this particular culture,” said Couric. “And I think the jury is still out as to whether democracy can really thrive in Iraq.”

Jubillent???? I don’t seem to recall any jubillence in the days between 911 and the war. what I saw was resolve, and a grim determination to end the threat.

I guess perhaps the crowd she hangs in was jubillent because they knew that they would soon relive their good old days of antiwar protesting and america bashing.

what a maroon!

So when it comes to Bush and war she of course sees the press as playing its role as adversary. But when her idol Hillary becomes president she will just be a mouthpiece for her administration, as most in the “news” media were for Bill.

“The whole culture of wearing flags on our lapel and saying ‘we’ when referring to the United States and, even the ‘shock and awe’ of the initial stages, it was just too jubilant and just a little uncomfortable.”

Many “professional journalists” sneered at my work. The most common criticism was that I lacked “objectivity” because I called enemy fighters “terrorists” when they used car bombs to blow up civilians, or because I openly admitted that as an American, I hoped “our side” would win. I seemed to get particularly bad marks for describing the outcomes of combat missions with terms like: “killed the enemy,” “shot the terrorist,” or “captured the suspects.” But in the context of the war as I was seeing it, the terminology was accurate.

...this inevitable march towards war and kind of feeling like, ‘Will anybody put the brakes on this?’

No one at the UN said Saddam was living up to his agreement when he signed onto 1441. There were those (crooks) wanting to give Saddam endless time, but 1441 was all about “immediate and unfettered compliance.”

Is Couric trying to prove she is an idiot or does she think we are all idiots? That’s the only issue here.

He's the President. What else would you be considered? This idea that opposing what our nation decides to do is somehow patriotic is absurd.

The majority in the old media want the U.S. to lose.
The majority in the congress want the U.S. to lose.
The majority of the people on the planet want the U.S. to lose.

It never ends....until it is ended. I would like to see the U.S. end it, because America didn't start it, in spite of what the old media, and the majority of congress say.

I believe it is time to WINONE4THEGIPPER, as well as win one for ourselves unless we want our ladies covered from head to toe and being stoned (murdered) for daring to show a mouth, or ankle and if you like the old media and our current congress, Americans will love being forced into prayer five times a day towards mecca and directed at the devil, allah.

America could have ended this war on the week after 9-11. The arabs should remember all Americans are and do not agree with the old media, or the traitors in our congress. America will win because the other choice, to lose, means the end of America. America is not ready to lose, the world, the U.S. Congress and the old media would be wise to remember, We the People, will decide, not they (the world, the U.S. Congress, or the old media)

The whole culture of wearing flags on our lapel and saying ‘we’ . . . .

Just hours after 9/11/01 liberal callers to the conservative talk shows I listen to said they absolutely refuse to show the Flag in any fashion. The Flag is too Republican they said.

And not long after that Senator Dianne Feinstein (D.-Cal.) said that wearing an American flag lapel pin causes her "embarrassment."

We're not even in the same library -- forget ever being on the same page.

“anyone who questioned the administration was considered unpatriotic “

Hey Katie, got links? This is something the Left repeats over and over, but who can recall anyone calling questioners unpatriotic? I don’t mean here or at DU or wherever, I mean government officials, congress, the MSM? The president, Secretary of State, who says this?

This is a strawman argument and must be challenged.

Eventually, I do not know when, but eventually America is going to WINONE4THEGIPPER. The old media and the traitors in congress can attack America all they wish, for they only reveal themselves as the idiots, they are. When an idiot speaks, alway allow that idiot plenty of rope, with which that idiot will hang themselves. The old media and the current congress has the rope, they have strung themselves up, and the current drop is causing the rope to grow shorter each time their (the old media and the current congress) mouths open.

Jubillent???? I don’t seem to recall any jubillence in the days between 911 and the war. what I saw was resolve, and a grim determination to end the threat.

Yes, it was a gritty resolve to finish a bad job that most Americans felt. But again we have Comrade Couric leading the usual leftist parade to ever so slightly twist the truth. It is a subtle shift, but critical. No one was jubilent in the march to war (with blood dripping from the sides of our mouths) as Couric suggests. No one was eager to go to war for "the thrill of it", as Couric suggests. Through this subtle, yet deliberate deceit, Couric means to suggest that Americans, and mostly the Bush Administration, needlessly and mindlessly went to war. It is a leftist lie of the first order.

We are waging a very important and necessary fight for freedom not to be overtaken by Islamic extremism. After all it was Clinton who kicked this can down the road for 8 years while America suffered Islamic attack after attack with all the associated warning signs of what was to come. But I know, Couric and her Manhattan liberal buddies simply pine for the days of the Clinton vacation from history period where all was right in their own little selfish world.
