I haven’t researched the polls exhaustively (at this point I don’t believe the polls are overly meaningful). However, I have noticed that Thompson’s numbers tend to be lower in polls that include Gingrich, and higher and polls that don’t.

In answer to your question:

1) Mr. Romney is a prominent member of a religious cult that believes that “the Bible is full of errors”, that the ludicrous Book of Mormon has supplanted the Bible and is “god’s” latest revelation to mankind, that their so-called leader/president speaks new/divine revelation from “god”, that Jesus Christ is Satan’s brother, that “god” was once a man and that men, by following the doctrines and dictates of Mormonism can become “gods” ruling over their own planets, propagating these new worlds by having sex with with the wives they have married here on earth. Holy underwear, that Jesus Christ came to America, that the Indians were Jews, that the virgin birth was the direct result of “god” having sex with Mary…

As a prominent member of this cult, he has taken an oath and pledged his allegiance to Mormonism and working toward establishing the Mormon “kingdom” here on earth! Shall I go on? Anyone who believes this space-cadet theology shows a lack of discernment at the core of their being. I do not care how many Olympics this guy has “saved” and run well, or experience he has had as govenor.

Recently, Mormonism has sought legitimacy by claiming to be “Christian”, and following the Jesus of the Bible, but this is a very recent phenomena in it's history. Fortunately, it’s current president/leader has admitted that Mormons do not in point of fact follow the traditional Christ of the Bible, or of biblical Christianity::

The current president of the Mormon Church, Gordon B. Hinckley, made a very telling comment about Jesus Christ in a talk in Geneva, Switzerland, June 6, 1998. The Deseret News reported:

In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints "do not believe in the traditional Christ. No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times.

He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages." (Deseret News, Church News section, Salt Lake City, Utah, week ending June 20, 1998, p. 7)

President. Hinckley, the leader of Mormonism, was being totally honest and told the truth; Mormons do not worship the traditional Jesus Christ who is described in the Bible, the Holy Word of God. They worship a false christ as proclaimed and taught by Joseph Smith, who, according to Hinckley “knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages"... if you believe that, there is a bridge in Brooklin I would like to sell you.

It should be noted that Mormonism has NEVER been recognized as being a part of “Christianity or Christendom because it’s core doctrines are in total opposition to the Word of God, the doctrine of salvation, the Christ of the Bible, and the Christ of Christianity.

2) Mr. Romney has flip flopped on abortion, homosexuality and a number of other issues while in his position of leadership as governor of MA. He had the opportunity to take a stand and he bent which ever way the political wind blew.

3) During the gas crunch/crises that took place while he was gov of MA. MR. Romney had the opportunity to provide some relief for the struggling people of MA by rolling back or eliminating the exceptionally high MA gas tax during the period covering the gas crisis. People throughout the state were hurting. People in the state begged him to do this but he staunchly refused… so much for his commitment to “cutting taxes”.

Yes he is “handsome” and telegenic, but people here in NH know him, what he believes and how he governs and frankly, many of us do not want him to become the leader of the free world and can not/will not vote for him.

The Thompson Effect .

In this case, no. Thompson doesn't seem to be gaining ground in NH, at least not yet. It's really a battle of the RINOs at this time, with folks starting to tilt to Guiliani over Romney.

You forgot to ping all the LDS organization members who are actively trying to erase all things negative about their man and their religion!

I realize that this in a NH poll only. However, how come Fred leads in the Rasmussen poll & most other polls rate him low? Is the Rasmussen poll wrong or do the others have a Liberal slant?

Different "likely voter" models. Until votes are cast, no one knows who's "right", however an analysis of trends within each of the polling service shows Thompson improving nationally at the expense of Guiliani, and Romney and McCain sitting mostly stagnant well behind them.

Thompson’s bounce is gone and he’s not cracking the top in the places where delegates are earned.

LOL. Thompson's 1st in almost every southern state, including South Carolina, an early primary state with more delegates than Iowa, and a close 2nd in Florida, which may be the most important state in the early stages.

Ras (Who’s track record I trust) has Fred gaining ground in NH. As fun as it is to poke at the Willardians over one poll, I’d like to see what the trends are across the board. I REALLY don’t buy McCain polling ahead of Fred, even in NH.

““frontrunner” or establishment candidate. “

oh right since Buchanan, McCain and Tsongas were all the establishment/front runners when they won NH

I am no Romney basher, but Romney was pretty liberal historically and has had some very dramatic changes to the right (on abortion, weapons, etc) concurrent with his deciding to run for the Republican nomiation.

I can’t call the man a liar, but his changes certainly were extremely convenient.

This holistic switch obviously does not sit well with skeptical conservatives.

“From the start Mitt has been trying to create that sense by buying straw polls.”

The “more money than God” strategy. But since he’s on the path to becoming God, I don’t know how that works.

Looking at the poll, both Rudy and McCain have both increased, while Thompson went down 1 point, so I don't think the "Thompson Effect" explains it.

* Mitt Romney 23% (33%) *

Rudy Giuliani 22% (18%) *

John McCain 17% (12%) *

Fred Thompson 12% (13%) *

Newt Gingrich 7% (3%) *

Ron Paul 4% (2%) *

Mike Huckabee 2% (2%) * Sam Brownback 2% (0%) *

Undecided 9% (12%)

Maybe when he starts to campaign there more it might improve, but I really don't think him shunning the debates in favor of Jay Leno did him any favors in New Hampshire. I don't have any clue as to how much the others have campaigned there yet either, but I did see that Mitt was the only one to run commercials so far.

Thank you for your kind words. I listed my (and many others) objections to Mr. Romney in post #22 because the Republican Party and those supporting Mr. Romney can not escape or erase the simple fact that Mr. Romney is heavily involved in Mormonism; a destructive religious cult who's doctrine is diametrically opposed to the truth. The truth concerning Jesus Christ; the unique Son of God who is fully God and fully man in one person, the truth concerning the true nature and divinity of the living God, the truth concerning what constitutes the genuine Gospel of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, the truth concerning Satan, the truth concerning the Kingdom of God, etc... (see post 22 for further details).

While Mr. Romney may be a "nice guy" in the worlds eyes and may have demonstrated some business acumen, the reality is his belief in the fanciful "doctrines" of Mormonism demonstrates a tremendous lack of discernment and judgment in regard to the truth.

It is also vitally important to note that in order to obtain the high position Mr. Romney currently holds within the cult he has had to take an oath to the “church”; swearing his allegiance to Mormonism and it’s leadership and to doing everything within his power to establish the Mormon "kingdom of god" upon the earth. This fact alone disqualifies him from holding the office of President of the United States because his allegiance lies else ware.

I, along with others who have mentioned these facts concerning Mormonism are telling the truth about the cult in order to educate the public at large. To do so is not "bashing Mormonism", it is presenting reality. The facts stated above about the cult are readily available and easily verified by anyone and everyone who is willing to take the time to do some simple apologetics research with an open mind, taking Mormonism at face value, examining it's founders, leaders, doctrines and beliefs in light of history, the Word of God and the founder (The Lord Jesus Christ), leaders, doctrine and beliefs of biblical Christianity and "the faith once and for all delivered to the saints."

democratic debate in New Hampshire...

First, they are not debates.

Second, every time I’ve watched any of these or any sound bites from the dems, the one who does best is Biden.

And he doesn’t have a prayer.

LOL!
