The home mortgage interest deduction should be eliminated, but not for this silly reason.Indeed, as should all other credits and deductions, along with the regressive tax rate. Flat tax, no exceptions. Let the deadbeats pay for some of what they're stealing from the taxpayers for a change.

Keeping MY money with a deduction is not stealing from the taxpayers. "Targeted" deductions and exemptions are definitely not right, but it is MY and YOUR money, not the government's. Keeping it is not stealing. The stealing comes when the government takes money from taxpayers who do not have the exemption.
