Mr Navarrette should remember that the rest of American society isn’t going anywhere either. Speaking for myself, I have no intention of abandoning my support of attempts to expel illegal immigrants and control the border. Nor do I intend to support any measure that would allow this country to become a bilingual nation, with Spanish or any other tongue as the second language. Nor do I support publically funded bilingual education in any form. Nor will I assent to any proposal that prolongs affirmative action for any group. Nor will I support any claim of reparations by any group. And I will oppose, violently if necessary, any attempt to establish Aztlan or any other “nation” within the territory of the United States.
If Mr Navarrette wishes to support me on any or all of these measures, I welcome his help. If he decides to oppose me, then the battle lines are drawn.
