Prosecutors Subpoena Calif. Lawmaker { Doolittle }

WASHINGTON, (AP) -- The Justice Department recently subpoenaed Rep. John Doolittle and five of the California Republican's staffers for documents as part of its corruption investigation.
The nine-term congressman gave no indication whether he planned to comply.
"These efforts raise serious constitutional issues going to the very core of our separation of powers created by the Founding Fathers," Doolittle's attorney David Barger said in a news release issued Thursday by the congressman's office.
Doolittle did not identify the documents being sought.

Keep posting these scurilous stories of Bush administration retrobution against a conservative that has YET... to be charged with EVEN ONE SINGLE CHARGE of ANY wrong doing because I'm pleased to say he has at least one FReeper (me)who stands by him till something is actually proven, or is proveable!!!
This political "torture" is mental abuse of the Honorable Congressman John Doolittle's entire family and is a vulger, vile act of the George W. Bush administration's IN-Justice Department!!! I can't imagine what John ever did to the Bushes to deserve anything like this heinous harrassment!!!

If this must happen, it’s better that it happen now rather than during the election. It gives local Republicans time to coalesce around a single opponent (Ted Gaines is the best known).
Tom DeLay refused to get out while the getting was good. We all know how that turned out.
