The Times Gets A Little Big-Spending Religion
The Times Watch ^ | September 27, 2007 | Clay Waters

The Times finds religion? Well, sort of.

When health reporter Robert Pear updated readers Thursday about the Congressional fight over funding for the State Children's Health Insurance Program (S-CHIP), he included a paragraph that started out like a joke about the three men that walk into a bar…

"A rabbi, a Roman Catholic priest and a Baptist minister joined Senate Democrats in making a moral argument for the legislation.

"In St. Luke's Gospel, we are told that Jesus instructed his disciples to 'let the little children come unto me, and do not hinder them,' said Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts. 'We urge Congress and the president to support our bipartisan legislation and let little children have health care."

One wonders: Would the secular Times have straightforwardly passed along that same Biblical injunction if delivered by, say, conservative Sen. Sam Brownback in support of pro-life legislation?

Call your congressmen and senators....this will not get them votes.

This just makes you sick....Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts. 'We urge Congress and the president to support our bipartisan legislation and let little children have health care."

......bipartisan my foot and the unctuous ..."let the little children have health care" Nauseating.

Passage of this bill will put thousands (or, more likely, millions) of illegals on the dole.

little children = illegal aliens brought here by their parents...

American children in need are already covered by Medicaid.

I, for one, do not wish to support illegal aliens' children.

This from the arch-supporter of abortion on demand.

And how about this Bible rule, Ted? "Thou shalt not suffer a young woman to drown in the trunk of thy car."

I missed that part of the bible. What verse is it that says “Steal money from working class people to create more Govt programs to keep your special interest voter groups sending you big fat campaign donations so you get re-elected campaign after campaign after campaign”.
