I guess one has to survive the more obvious symptoms of alcohol poisoning to develop CVST from the dehydrating effects?

Presumably these were 20 oz Imperial pints and not 16 oz pints.
So that works out to a little more than one case of beer a day in US terms.
Pretty hard core.

"...the patient revealed he had consumed 60 pints in the last four days - prompted by 'a domestic crisis'." I used to engage in similar behavior, but my binges were probably more appropriately characterized as having resulted from "import" crises.

I certainly hope he was drinking decent beer at the time. A nice Newkie Brown at least. One very troubling thing I noticed in my recent visits to the UK — Budweiser was considered good beer.

My sister-in-law’s brother went on a drinking binge one weekend. He only consummed alcohol for three days.
He was found dead.
Later it was determined that he died of alcohol poisoning.
I’m sorry he died, but...
Stupid, stupid, stupid.

It took more than six months of long-term blood-thinning treatment to restore the man's normal vision and to get rid of the headache, the doctors reported. It's called a "hangover" and it would have gone away on it's own.

Fifteen pints a day for four days straight? That’s a lot of God damned beer. Too bad they don’t disclose the man’s body weight. It would be interesting to know if he runs ten stone or thirty.
