WASHINGTON President Bush told House Speaker Nancy Pelosi yesterday that he is going ahead with his promised veto of a major expansion of a childrens health program despite its overwhelming approval by Congress.
Pelosi, D-Calif., said she told Bush in a morning phone call that she was praying that he would change his mind. I think I have to pray a little harder, she told reporters moments later, at a Capitol ceremony where Democrats celebrated passage of the proposed $35 billion increase in the State Childrens Health Insurance Program.
He said he liked people who dont give up, Pelosi said, but he also made it clear that he is not backing down.
White House press secretary Dana Perino confirmed Pelosis account.
Who again called the President a “lame duck”?
You know Pelosi was down on her knees praying at the small alter she has set up in her house office. She would probably give the pope a run for his money when it comes to the time spent in prayer each day. sarcasm off/
This thing might be veto-proof. Senate is beyond hope. Call the House and tell them NO.
He can't answer your prayers.
Sink the SCHIP!
Veto them all. Let these clowns go to the people in 2008 and run on this crap. Govt Health Care for children of people making as much as $82,000 a year until age 25?
great news, my only question is, if Bush is vetoeing this, why did they pass the ‘medicare perscription expansion’? Selective opposition of socialized medicine?
Good, I hope he DOES veto it.
BTW, where does Pelosi pray? In a mosque?
Shhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
We do not remember that. That was those darned LIBERALS!
This will lead to more smuggling.
