TORONTO, September 26, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A lengthy article published in the Ottawa Citizen Monday, which is being seen by some as a crassly one-sided pro-abortion propaganda piece, decried wait times for abortions in the city.
The article points out that the Ontario Liberal Government has given the private Morgentaler abortion centre in Ottawa enough taxpayer dollars to pay for thousands abortions this year alone. "A.G. Klei, spokesman for the Ontario Ministry for Health and Long-Term Care, says the ministry provided enough money for the clinic to perform 2,350 abortions this year," reports the paper.
Reacting to the piece yesterday all three major party leaders addressed the issue.
The Ottawa Citizen quotes Liberal Premier Dalton McGuinty's reaction given at a campaign stop Tuesday. "I fully support a woman's right to choose, No. 1," Mr. McGuinty said. "No. 2, we have provided an additional $9 billion by way of new investments in health care."
Both the Progressive Conservative and the NDP Leader attempted to blame McGuinty for longer wait times. "Wait times for many procedures in Ottawa are not only below recommended Ontario government levels, but also behind provincial averages," said PC Leader John Tory. "This is unacceptable for the second largest city in the province and shocking given Ottawa is the home of the premier."
Maron Nader, a spokeswoman for NDP leader Howard Hampton told the Citizen that abortion is a "front-line" health procedure and blamed McGuinty for the longer wait times.

I’ve said it here once and I’ll say it again. This election is not about conservative, liberal or socialist values. This election is between socialist-lite, socialist and communist values. We need an alternative in this province that emulates the federal Conservative party.
