A New York City police officer was shot to death yesterday morning at her home in Bay Shore, on Long Island, while her fiancé, also a member of the Police Department, was in the house, the Suffolk County police said.

Her fiancé, identified by people who knew the couple as Alex Chaparro, 27, was questioned by the police and released without charges...
< >
Investigators ruled out suicide, Lieutenant Fitzpatrick said. Ms. Garcias and Mr. Chaparros children, from previous relationships, were not home, he said.

Sounds like a highly dysfunctional domestic situation.
If he didn’t do it, there are 2: accidental self- inflicted, or unknown shooter
WOW! Two cops married together, sorta like two presidents in charge at the same time, like bill and hill.
Doesn’t look good for Mr. Chaparro. On the other hand he is a police officer and won’t be treated the same as any other suspect.
Hosabout the “father” of the children of the “previous relationships”?
Pretty slick to get into the house, shoot Garcia and leave without Chaparro noticing him.
I supposed they could take him in for “questioning” and somehow get his prints on the murder weapon.
Garcia's family, meanwhile, is convinced Chaparro pulled the trigger.
"He did it," said Garcia's uncle, Francisco Hernandez, as he left the station house where Chaparro was held.
Post.
Now, that is really uncalled for.
“If he didnt do it, there are 2: accidental self- inflicted, or unknown shooter”
And accidental self inflicted in the chest isn’t easy to do. More info needed here, was it rifle, pistol, or shotgun?
K.D. Lang?
Something doesn’t seem right about this incident?

Family of reserve Gary officer dealing with tragedy, chaplain says

HAMMOND | A loaded handgun and a misstep killed Gary reserve police Officer Kevin Weaver on Saturday afternoon, police said Sunday.
Weaver, 49, of Merrillville, had finished a round of practice shooting when he bumped into fellow reserve officer Gerald Horton, 52, of Gary, who planned to clear a bullet from a .45-caliber handgun about 3 p.m. at Deb’s Gun Range in Hammond, said Gary police Cmdr. Samuel Roberts. The gun fired once into Weaver’s chest. Weaver was pronounced dead at 3:34 p.m. Saturday at St. Margaret Mercy Healthcare Centers in Hammond, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.
Weaver — a long-serving custodian for Gary’s public schools — volunteered as a reserve officer because of “love, dedication and commitment” to the Gary Police Department and the city’s people, said Bishop Chaplain E. Bobby Warren, Gary police chaplain and pastor.
“He was a splendid person of high integrity,” Warren said.
Weaver’s family is traumatized but is coping, Warren said. Horton is “holding up well,” reserve Capt. Arthur Moore said.
According to Roberts:
Weaver and other officers were practicing voluntarily Saturday for a shooting test required of reserve officers. The officers finished shooting and were cleaning their guns at a table at the range at 6819 Kennedy Ave., Hammond. Horton took out his bullet magazine and saw the gun still had at least one bullet. He stepped away from the table to go to the firing line and empty the gun. Weaver bumped into Horton. Horton “fell back” and the gun fired.
Hammond police are investigating. A Gary sergeant heard from Hammond police Sunday that investigators believe the shooting was accidental, Roberts said. Hammond police could not be reached for comment Sunday.
A man who answered the range’s phone said the range owners would not comment.
Weaver has been a reserve officer since 1990, and Horton has served since 1985, Roberts said. About 70 reserve officers volunteer for the force, Moore said.
Weaver leaves behind three adult sons and a grandchild, Moore said.
Roberts was unsure Sunday if Weaver will be memorialized with a police funeral. The city will offer “whatever we are able to make available” to Weaver’s family, Roberts said.
“What are the possibilities here?”
Suicide by cop.
