You can be sure Osamabama has written these guys off already. And the Hildabeast? I think she and the Nancy woman are looking forward to arranging some preliminary meetings with the ruling generals so we wouldn’t want to unnecessarily insult them now.

The U.N. isn’t going to touch it because each permanent member of the security council has existing financial deals with the ruling government.

U.S. - Chevron
U.K. - BP
France - Total
China - various gas contracts
Russia - trying to sell the Myanmar government a nuclear reactor

India’s Oil Minister was just in the region to sign more energy contracts when the protests started.

The Kennedy administration in 1963 decided that Diem had to go because he had offended the Buddhists. (I forget if he had killed any of them--of course there were the Buddhist monks who protested by burning themselves to death, which his sister-in-law Madame Nhu tastelessly referred to as "monk barbeques.")

That was different--Diem was on the right, the Burmese government is on the left, so it will get a pass.
