Lead?
Fine, then let’s get out of the UN, and get down to business.
This “keep your enemies closer” concept is bull$hit.

Gotta love Dave Mustaine.
When, Bush talks like this it reminds me of why I voted for him. I wish he would follow up with a statement to Mexico. Tell them to stop exporting their povery across the border.
I'd like to see a list of those "good things." I'm not sure that Bush could come up with anything that I would agree was a "good thing."
I can, actually, come up with a "good thing" that the UN is charged with and is within its original mission statement - the organization and distribution of international disaster relief. The problem with this is that the organization is so bureaucratic, corrupt, inefficient, unaccountable to its funders and run for the benefit of its inhabitants that it cannot even do that well, or in many cases at all. The Indonesian tidal wave relief debacle is a perfect example - the U.S., Australian, and Indian navies were distributing desperately needed food and medical supplies while the UN representatives were staying in five-star hotels, meeting with host country bureaucrats, and delivering grand statements two weeks into the disaster, hoarding the remaining supplies in warehouses while the locals demanded kickbacks from the victims, patting themselves on the back for "coordinating" activities with which they had absolutely nothing to do. This shameful performance resulted not in investigations and firings, but in promotions.
The real tragedy in Africa is that persons behaving in this manner were given guns as well as portfolios. The rapine and robbery that followed were no more than a logical extension of what was seen in Indonesia. I say it sadly because I was for many years a firm believer in the UN, but it is systemically corrupt beyond reform and ought, for the very good of its ostensible beneficiaries, to be shut down permanently and its would-be ruling class be made to find honest work somewhere. They'd probably starve.
