Coulter speech skewers liberals - with photo gallery
Livingston Daily ^ | Oct 2, 2007 | Dan Meisler

Ann Coulter delivered a sharp-witted and droll attack on liberals and Democrats on Monday at Cleary University, to the delight of about 500 audience members. Coulter spoke at the university's Genoa Township campus, in the finale of the Livingston Economic Club's 2007 speaker series.

In a speech full of one-liners, Coulter hit Democrats, their presidential candidates, and their opposition to the war in Iraq.

For example, Coulter blasted Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, who she refers to B. Hussein Obama, using his middle name. "He's part black, part white, part atheist, part Christian, part Muslim," she said. "There's something for every Democrat to vote for."

She also poked fun at his supposed lack of experience, saying that he's only as popular as he is because of how unlikable front-runner Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., is.

"That's why everyone's going to that 14-year-old Obama," she said.

The crowd, whose members paid $60 each for tickets, was very sympathetic, giving Coulter a standing ovation when she entered the room, and laughing along at most of her jokes.

"I agreed with 100 percent of what she said," said Michael Forster of Hartland. "I just thought it was fabulous, her whole outlook and approach."

Emily Cican of Howell, a senior at Hillsdale College, said she's a fan of Coulter.

"I thought she was very clever and funny and spoke the truth," Cican said. "I admire her courage. She's a bold speaker and an excellent representative in the media for conservatives."

Russell Spencer, a Tyrone Town-ship resident who contributes to the Web log called The Suburban Voice, also praised Coulter.

Some people say Ann Coulter is polarizing. If hard hitting, gutwrenching truth is polarizing, so be it.

I can’t stand Coulter; I think she does a disservice with her sophomoric humor. She’s smart, decent-looking and could be a terrific spokesperson for the party, but she lowers herself with her child-level humor and over-the-top comments. And what’s with the support for Larry Craig? If she wants to be funny, there’s plenty of material there.

One of the best on Hannity and Colmes last night was this (I hope I get it right):
Colmes: You have said that more and more the proclamations of the Episcopal Church resemble the latest Madonna video. Is that how you talk about your fellow Christians?

Ann: My fellow Christians agree with that.

(BTW, I am an Episcopalian.)

Charles Hoehn presents Ann Coulter with a Red Friday T-shirt representing Hoehn's company, "Red Friday Society." His company's product, a selection of red shirts, is recommended to be worn on Fridays to show support for those injured, as well as for the families of those injured, in combat.

Ann Coulter may be joking or she's half serious. Grab this one, folks:

When asked about Giuliani, Coulter said she would likely vote for him even though she disagreed on abortion.

"I have a feeling I'd vote for whichever idiot we'd run," she said.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
