Each medal is individually designed. Here is the medal given to the WW II Navajo Code Talkers.

DeBakey designed many instruments that are now used in cardiac and thoracic surgery. My favorite needle holders for use in the repair of the diaphragm is a pair of 8" curved Debakeys. Very few veterinarians use them but once they get into the chest or dorsal thoracic cavity they learn how handy they really are.

DeBakey deserves this medal....
