Th buildings they want to put there are to replace buildings that are currently on the Hayward Fault. Of course the writer got it wrong. The fault actually splits the uprights at Memorial Stadium. They are also complaining because they are closing Tightwad Hill, a spot where one could sit on a hill and see inside the stadium. The stadium has 70K+ seats.

I could care less about the trees these hippies are fighting to protect (trees that were planted by the university in the first place, by the way).

But to be honest, though I've never made it up to Tightwad Hill, it is one of those classic college traditions that I'll miss (if it indeed is going to be closed).
