Then why do you think that ALL SORTS of commenters from ALL SORTS of perspectives are saying the same thing about Thompson: no fire, no zest, disappointing speeches?

I’ll say it one last time: dismissing Dobson is just stupid. He does speak for a lot of people; and he certainly is identified with a constituency that is indispensable for any GOP candidate. And I haven’t seen one poll indicating that Thompson has support to spare.

I would say it for the same reason that when Bush was running everyone started to speak about gravitas pretty much on cue. And when Reagan was running everyone started to speak about him being a warmonger. It is gossip and lack of imagination masquerading as news.

To you dismissing Dobson is stupid. Dobson insults (and that is up to interpretation) Thompson, and it is suddenly Thompson's responsibility to put on a dog and pony show for Dobson. I like Dobson, but to me, he is wrong. He is the one who should be calling Thompson.

And... I think you are looking at the pregame warm-ups and deciding the game. I think we have along way to go in this presidential race... and Fred's support is not shrinking but growing.
