Media Matters for America is yet another 501(c)(3) nonprofit "charity" that pays no taxes and simply should not exist unless David Brock wanted to go in to a business, collect money and then pay taxes for what they are doing.

This is another farce where someone forms a "nonprofit" entity to push their own political agendas and make some money. In 2005 according to their 990 media Matters For America took in $8,470,957. They paid out $1,379,765 in salary and wages. All exempt while Rush Limbaugh paid MILLIONS in taxes.

We need to reform these fake nonprofits in America. This is way past due! The idea was to allow poor groups to hekp poor people. How can it be that something like a soup kitchen, a REAL charity, who helps people can be the same exact kind of busness entity as Media Matters?

It's outragous when elected officials try to censor Rush Limbaugh. It's sickening that by allowing groups like Media Matters to exist as a "charity" as a taxpayer I'm basically paying part of their cost to do business. And because they can raise tax decuctible money as a charity they can afford to attack real businesses like EIB and Clear Channel.

There are about 1,500,000 so-called "charities" in America today. We are fools to allow some of these groups to have the same tax advantages as groups that help their fellow man.

I saw on another thread where “Media Matters” has been referred to the IRS for investigation.

Both Media Matters and MoveOn.org are Clinton organizations. MoveOn was designed during the days of Clinton’s impeachment (hence the name) in an effort to “move away” from his defilement of the Oval Office. Media Matters (and I think someone above me on this thread hit the nail on the head) is, I believe, designed to come up with stories whose primary purpose would be to remove Clinton wrongdoing from the forefront by manufacturing libel that the drive-by media picks up on because it ALWAYS involves conservative media organs. Certainly it was not Media Matters who broke the Dan Rather forged documents story, now, was it?

Media Matters should be sued by those individuals and entities which it has slandered and libeled. If the dinosaur media wants any of its credibility back (and good luck with that), they should slam Shrillery long and hard about Hsu and the Democrat Congress about their failure to obtain the facts of a story before slandering an private citizen on the floor of the Senate. Personally, I believe the odds are more likely there will be a Ferrari with a big red bow in my driveway when I arrive home tonight.
