Yeah, he was a conservative Democrat back then and even came up with the Willie Horton ad that Bush 1 gets blamed for. After that loss he went to a new age camp, walked on hot coals and came back a new man, and we all know what than man is, nuts.
Your source for that? That ad was produced, aired and paid for by Americans for Bush. I don't know what the designation was then, but it was the equivalent of a 501(c)(3).
There might have been another Willie Horton ad in the primaries, but I don't recall it.
