C-17s are pretty cool.
And much more comfortable for a passenger than a C-130. ;-)

And much more comfortable for a passenger than a C-130 Do you know how they compare to a KC-135?
I had the misfortune to have to ride in a jump seat on a KC-135 from Travis AFB to Japan back in 1994, when the C-141 fleet was grounded. Very noisy, we had to climb over cargo pallets to get to the only head on board, and the temperature alternated between hot and very cold.
The only good thing about that trip was that I was part of a crew carrying a 5 pound, very high value cargo, and we bumped an army colonel and his party.

Interesting video; thanks for posting. I noted that one of the military people said landing in northern Canada (the Arctic?) is more difficult than in Afghanistan and that they have better landing fields in Afghanistan than they do in northern Canada. I’ve been watching “Ice Road Truckers” on the History Channel. I wonder if he’s talking about those diamond mines near the Arctic Circle.

More likely he was talking about the Arctic Archipelago, north of the Arctic Circle.

As Clive correctly pointed out, they’re talking about the archipelago. I would imagine that anything going to diamond mines would be private. The C-17s will go into CFB Alert.

I’d suggest that the Canadians bomb Trenton while they’re there, but nobody would notice.

There’s nothing wrong with riding in a C-130. Open the back door, enjoy the fresh air....

Thanks for the helpful information.
