Huckabee Seeks National Fundraising Chairman
KATV Channel 7 News ^ | October 05, 2007

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is looking for someone to coordinate fundraising for his presidential campaign.

Huckabee says campaign finance laws and a failing within his own campaign are behind his poor fundraising record. He hopes to fix things by recruiting a national finance chairman.

Huckabee says he wants to hire someone who isn't a slick, fast-talker--and he wants the person to believe in Huckabee's campaign.

Huckabee raised about $1 million this summer for his GOP presidential campaign, 10% of the total of front-running rivals Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani, and 20% of the total of little-known Representative Ron Paul of Texas.

The former Arkansas governor said he's raised enough money to stay competitive and build on the momentum from a second-place finish in Iowa's straw poll and a modest rise in polls.

But he acknowledges that he's off to a slow start on money, saying the problem is that he hasn't had a national campaign chairman overseeing fundraising efforts. Huckabee blames campaign finance laws that he says favor rich candidates and Washington incumbents.

Mike Huckabee appears to be surprised by his own momentum and is currently ill-prepared to take advantage of it.

What momentum?

The guy shot himself in the foot and then stuck his whole leg in his mouth with his performance at the Maryland debate.

The guy is a total panderer!

He is toast!

little-known Representative Ron Paul of Texas.

Little-known? Paul just raised $5 million without batting an eye. He's already on pace to reach his $4 million monthly goal for October. Plus he has volunteers and grassroots working for him for FREE.

The problem isn't the campaign-finance laws, Governor. Your campaign stinks because you're an open borders, socialist nanny-stater who want to run other people's lives.
