As Many As 6 Dead in Forest County Shooting; Suspect is Law Enforcement Officer
By Chris Lato

Reports indicate as many as six people are dead in a shooting rampage in Crandon, Wisconsin. The suspect is reportedly with the Forest County Sheriff’s Department. At least report authorities were still trying to hunt him down.

Authorities say this is a fatal shooting - a witness says just before 3 am gunfire erupted at a home in Crandon. A witness says 10 area youths between 17 and 20 were at the home, and one suspect, the law enforcement officer, fired all the shots.

At this time, authorities are still trying to apprehend the suspect, considered armed and dangerous, and who may be on foot.

The whole neighborhood was still on lockdown as of mid-morning. There are varying reports on the number of those injured and fatalities - numbers are not confirmed at this time, and it was not immediately confirmed what sparked this shooting.

I was born and lived up in Michigan’s UP...due north of this “City”, and I have to laugh that residents of those parts call towns which would be considered hamlets in most areas, “Cities”. Well I was born in a “City” of about 3 or 4 thousand, so there!

Yes he was a deputy for the sherrifs dept. Tyler Peterson, and one of the women killed was his ex girlfriend, so it was a domestic dispute of some sort. Not sure if he went there with the intention to kill everyone. Hard to feel safe when it is the people who are supposed to be protecting you doing the killing.

Typically, a gunman on the loose in northern Wisconsin is a very temporary situation. Much of the population has experience with picking off large animals at long distances with a rifle and scope.

Wow! You two newshens are great additions to FR.

You're on the spot where this tragedy has unfolded and you knew just what to do. We have more of a perspective from the details and local color you've provided.

It's amazing how there are freepers in the most remote or the smallest hamlets of this country who hasten to inform the rest of us when there's breaking news.

Welcome to this forum, gals. You're doing great!

Well, there goes the gun control argument, "only the police and military should have guns."

Now they'll probably say, nobody should have them.
