The downside is that this is a heavyweight establishment team, which risks the impression that Fred is going to be yet another insider. As a former senator and lobbyist, he already has some insider credentials, although he also has a record that seems to be pretty clean and independent.
The upside is that this is a heavyweight establishment team, which suggests that the establishment thinks he is the most likely candidate to win the election.
What kind of deals they may cut, one way or the other, who knows? Fortunately or unfortunately, no one can win a major party primary without this kind of major league support coming on board.
I am hoping that they have taken a look at all the candidates and have simply decided that Fred is the best bet to win.
