Liz Cheney! Excellent choice. And was Howard Baker the Senate Majority Leader who led a delegation of Republican congressmen to the WH to tell Nixon that he had to resign? If so, another good choice.
I like the Allen pickup! Awesome.
We may now see upon whom the anointment for intellectual successor to the Bush Administration falls. Even though the inner circle of the George W. Bush coterie is appearing to “stay out” of overt politics in support of any probable nominee for the Republican candidate for the US Presidency, some of their strategy for 2009 and beyond is becoming apparent. No such high-level assistance has come to any of the other candidates, and in fact, some slight discouragement may already be applied.
Look for Fred Thompson, seemingly laid back as he is, to get lifted to the forefront, slowly to be sure, but with a growing air of inevitability.
