The Boeing Co. is delaying initial deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner by six months due to continued challenges in completing assembly of the first airplanes, the company said Wednesday.
Boeing said deliveries that had been scheduled to begin next May will be pushed back to late November or December 2008.
The first flight, already pushed back once from the initial target of earlier this fall, now is anticipated around the end of the first quarter of 2008.

I knew the celebrating was premature for the 787, I was waiting for a successful first flight before celebrating Boeing's new airliner.

Not too bad, really. Could even be a buying opportunity if you're the gambling type.

The stock is getting crushed today. :-(It's brutal! Down 3%!!! The stock is now trading at levels it hasn't seen since September 18th!!!!!

LOL! Airbust needs something to celebrate about. They’re still redesigning the A350XWB, but this puts less pressure on them to deliver early.
Also, there are rumblings that Boeing and their partners may not be able to meet their stated production rates, let alone ramp them up. If that occurs, then there will be major ramifications for Boeing’s bottom line.

It has rebounded a bit from its early decline:

All you pessimists keep on chattering. Don’t forget about the likleyhood of the KC-767 tanker getting approved by the AF, the 747-8 intercontiental and cargo, the 737-MMA that will replace the P8 subhunter, AND the 787 setting new standards for cabin comfort and effeciency, maintainence etc.
There is a reason why we’ve got orders for more than 700 of these babies.
Go check out www.newairplane.com incase you forget.

The A380 made a few passes over San Francisco Bay on Friday, just before the Blue Angels practice show. The thing I noticed was how incredibly quiet it was compared to a 747:

And you’ll get orders for 700 more. Move on to an all composite 737 replacement, and you’ll kill Airbus and their current cash cow the A320 family.

The thing I noticed was how incredibly quiet it was compared to a 747: It's a lot newer than the 747. When it comes to aircraft noise levels, the design and build dates are vey important.
