"Today the Senate has rightly rejected another shortsighted attempt to repeal the estate tax. It is my hope that todays vote sends a clear message that another tax cut for the wealthiest Americans at a cost of $1 trillion is exactly the wrong priority for this nation.
Indeed, we are still in a time of record deficits, sacrifices are being made by our troops in harms way in Iraq and Afghanistan and many areas of the Gulf Coast remain unlivable with its residents dispersed throughout the country. We have raised the debt limit to $9 trillion.
Foreign countries now finance more than half of our governments public debt, and we now spend more money each year simply paying the interest on that debt than we do on education, homeland security and veterans health care combined. We would have had to borrow even more from the foreign governments of China, Japan, Saudi Arabia and others that currently hold the note on half of our public debt to help finance this tax cut. But ultimately, the burden of paying for these tax cuts would have fallen on the middle class.

“We have raised the debt limit to $9 trillion.”
But are the Dems honoring their promise to reduce the deficit? No.
“We will be taking things away from you.”
That’s all anyone needs to know about Mrs. Clinton.
Taxing policy has nothing to do with reducing the deficit, it has to do with controlling you, otherwise she would be in favor of reducing income tax to increase revenues. With spending your money for the common good.
This person is out there saying things like this and yet there are people right here on FR who say they don’t care if Hillary is elected because they hate some of the Republican candidates so much. Wake up, people. This is what we’re going to get if we keep fighting each other instead of focusing on who the real threat is. Anyone who reads what Hillary! says she’s going to do and then turns around and says they don’t care if she’s elected has to have their head examined.
SHE LIES
Hillary “I want to take those profits” Clinton chimes in on the Estate Tax.

Exactly! — this is precisely why you will NEVER see a fair tax, because the Congress, especially THIS Congress ruled by our socialists, will never kill the TAX CODE. It is a political tool and WEAPON that they manipulate and use for political purposes. If revenue was their only concern, they could easily double their revenues with a FAIR TAX, FLAT TAX, or something similar.
It is all about POWER AND CONTROL.
Behind all this garbage she spews out is
“We will take away from you for the common good”.
That is the underlying statement she is making, period.
She freeloads on other comments, she is also an interloper, and a lying weasel.
Bullfrog
Didn't you just tell us you wanted that money to pay for your cradle to grave Socialist entitlement programs vote buying schemes?
they’re great !
Take a page from the middle class Hillibilly. When you spend more than you make? Cut spending.
...and we, as voters, dont do anything about it but complain.
:::::::
That is true. But we used to be able to hang horse-thieves in the old days, but all that kind of stuff is illegal now. So we must use the new media, and the vote, and the fax machine, and emails and phone calls to our representatives, etc. to get at these fools and carpetbaggers. Look how well we did on the last attempt at an AMNESTY (God help us). The voice of the people does matter, and does count. You just have to yell at the right people.
Half of that $9 trillion debt is due to SS and Medicare.
Hey Hillary! Did you ever think to quit spending money you don’t have? Cut the crap!
