Local Republicans blast Spitzer license plan

Citing potential problems with terrorist attacks and higher insurance rates, Rochester area Republicans Tuesday condemned Gov. Eliot Spitzer's proposal to allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver's licenses.

At a meeting in the lobby of the Monroe County Office Building, Assemblyman Bill Reilich of Greece called the plan a "horrific situation."

Under the changes, Spitzer made it possible for illegal immigrants to get a license if they have a valid foreign passport. Previously, wither a Social Security number or a letter from the Social Security Administration stating the applicant wasn't eligible for a Social Security number was required.

"This is nothing more than a political scam by the governor to garner illegal votes in upcoming elections," said Joseph Errigo, R-Conesus. "Now (Spitzer) wants to encourage illegal immigrants to come into our state."

It's obvious Spitzer wants to flood the state with illegals who vote.

QUISLING: a synonym for traitor, someone who collaborates with the invaders of his country.

Current federal law 8USC 1373(a) PROHIBITS SANCTUARY CITIES. It reads as follows:

"Notwithstanding any other provision of federal, state, or local law, a federal, state, or local government entity or official may not prohibit, or in any way restrict any government entity or official from sending to, or receiving from, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual."

U.S. Constitution, Article 4 Section 4:

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government,

and shall protect each of them against Invasion;"

Invasion: \In*va"sion\, n. [L. invasio: cf. F. invasion. See Invade.] [1913 Webster]

1. The act of invading; the act of encroaching upon the rights or possessions of another; encroachment; trespass.

Upstate's depopulating so fast, this is the only way 'Rats and RINOs think they can get some warm bodies up here.

What Upstate really needs is its own state. STAT.

I agree but it would be a disaster in the long run. New York City does keep New York in the black. It is tough to argue with that huge city who carries the state. But besides financial, I agree with you.

I’ve heard the financial argument before. And the biggest reason I don’t buy it is that if we were to get our own state, why in blue blazes would we then be dumb enough to assume the same kind of entitlement burden and spending policies that those boneheads in Albany have stuck the state with? The only way we’d have a prob is if we continued spending like drunken sailors. Yeah, Upstate has lower incomes, and its tax base ain’t great, but the state insists on spending way over what the Feds require. I think if we got our own state and didn’t repeat the mistakes the ‘Rats and RINOs’ve made, people and business would flock here. Upstate would do all right. And if we did have to tighten our belts longer than the short term required, so be it. To my mind, getting out from under Albany’s yoke would make it worth the sacrifice :)

Interesting analysis. Let’s give it a try. I think it would be worth a shot!!!
