Conservatives claim to be in favor of stable families, small businesses, hard work, private schools, investment and homeownership.
So why in the world are so many on the right attacking the family of Graeme Frost?
SNIP
The kids were treated, thanks to S-CHIP. The Frosts spoke out so the public would know that real people lie behind the acronym.
Their reward was to be trashed on right-wing blogs and talk radio as if they were multimillionaires ripping off the system. The assault on the Frosts apparently began on the Free Republic website and quickly spread to National Review Online, Power Line, and Michelle Malkin's blog, as well as Rush Limbaugh's radio show.

OK, the Democrats are "fair game," but a 12-year-old? No wonder nobody talks about compassionate conservatism anymore.
As a general rule, I am a fan of the blogosphere. It has broadened the public debate and brought new people into politics. And nasty stuff is by no means limited to the right-wing blogs. Left-of-center blogs whose political views I largely share have published offensive stuff, too. Shaun Mullen, who blogs at The Moderate Voice--yes, there are moderate blogs--is right to generalize when he says that the targeting of the Frost family reveals "the vicious underbelly of the blogosphere."
So rather than just condemn the right-wingers as meanies, let's take their claims seriously. Doing so makes clear that they are engaged in a truly perverse and incoherent form of class warfare.

But here is a family with modest possessions doing everything conservatives tell people they should do, and the right trashes them for getting help to buy health insurance for their children.

The media has been reporting the $45k household income. How do they know that figure is right?
Everything here is by the playbook..yawn...put a victim out there, and when he’s challenged, go after the attackers as being “mean.” They set us up all the time.
Ms Dione fails to mention that SCHIP did indeed cover these pukes when they needed it. At what point is any Dem going to ask any adult to take on adult responsibilities. Rediculous. Now we have suburban puppies who feel they need a subsidy to make it through life. How about we create a national program to develop character in our people?
Hey EJ Honey....no one is picking onm the brain damaged 12 year old.........but his parents are GAMING the system!! Hey EJ Honey....ask to see there TAX FILING!!!! HA....they will refuse because they are FRAUDS!! They want their neighbors to pay but they don;t want to.
He also is not admitting it was the left that served the whole thing up and lying about who this family is.
People like this author just don’t matter anymore. There is no credibility; no challenge, no truth in what they write. It’s like they make stuff up and throw it out there as reality.
In other words, they are just plain boring; almost as boring as the lies they all tell.
Somehow a family earning $45K a year who does not prioritize their kids could not be the problem, could they? Nah. It must be those real killers OJ is chasing.
I still wonder what kind of parents let their kids go without medical insurance and demands that somebody else pay for it when they get hurt. No, I don’t wonder, I know. Those kind of parents are also known as Democrats.
They don’t. The Baltimore Sun claims the Frost’s declined their request to see their 2006 tax return. However, a spokesman for the Maryland office that runs the health insurance program assured the media the Frost’s are quaified.
Yet another fine example of “selective reality”. This Brave New World thing is sure gonna be fun. /sarc
Doing so makes clear that they are engaged in a truly perverse and incoherent form of class warfare.

This liberal story-book scenario is right out of the Dem playbook. It just smells of class warfare and typical liberal divisiveness. But now the playbook includes a new section that says to include attacks on the New Media, including Talk Radio, the patriotic blogosphere, and anything not LIBERAL. Typical.
E.J. is a man. Sort of. FYI.
This is a very intriguing statement because when we have a Compassionate Conservative in office the left calls him every name in the book and accuses him of being racist.
Who's blaming the kid? I blame his parents and the 'Rats for using him as a political "human shield".
Also, the primary question recently on the SCHIP program is whether it is being expanded away from its original aim of socializing medicine for poor kids to socializing medicine for all but the richest kids including a lot whose parents could and should be paying for insurance themselves. The Frosts have proven to be a perfect example of that rather than the Dems plan to use them as an example of the struggling poor family.
Do you believe some bureaucrat Democrat??? I sure don’t.
He’s a chick, baby!
The Donks served him up as a “victim” of evil conservatives. We simply knocked him outta the park.
He just doesn't get it, does he? ......
You need to let go your antiquated notion of fact based reality, and rise to a higher truth. Relax, let the warm needle of liberal narrative do its work. You are getting tired, aren’t you? Sleepy. Sleepy. vote democrat....
/sarcasm
E.J. is a man. Sort of. FYI............like David Korn?.......
No, Mr. Dionne, that's a lie (or at least a blatant misrepresentation). The kids would have received their emergency treatment regardless of who was paying for it.
Let's try again, shall we?
The kids were treated and the bills were covered by S-CHIP.
Isn't everyone qualified under Maryland's SCHIP program? There is no need/asset assessment, correct? If so, therein lies the problem. They set up an inherent scam system.
How dare these conservatives beat up on this rich family for using tax dollars that could be better spent on poor kids. Don't they know that only liberals can beat up on rich families?
Isn’t The New Republic the magazine that made up a ton of stories? Never let the facts get in the way of a good story, I guess.
In ‘Liberalworld’ any time you point out hypocrisy, misrepresentations, and flat out lying by leftwingers, you are accused of ‘being mean’.
I’ll also note, excluding death, the Democrats used this child in a manner reminiscent of how terrorist used children to carry bomb belts into pizza parlors to then self detonate.
They tossed this kid out there, let him ‘explode’ politically, and then act surprised the family is getting beaten down by facts.
Isn’t that SOLDIER Beauchamp a writer of PHONY STORIES at The New Republic????
What’s “cruel” about asking why a family (that sends two children to a hyper-expensive private school) is covered by a public subsidy program that could be expanded to cover even richer applicants?
Do they meet the qualifications? Only the Right is asking.
...and that’s not cruel. It’s just asking.
So the Dems throw out this kid with their script and then whine when his lies are challenged. Same game they play with minorities and women. And of course try to find a “journalist” that has the ability to critically examine what is said.
If politics was a football game they’d put a woman in at quarterback and go berserk when she was tackled before she crossed the goal line. Mean old defense.
“OK, the Democrats are “fair game,” but a 12-year-old? No wonder nobody talks about compassionate conservatism anymore.”
Apparently the Dems are such cowards that they have to hide behind children in order to further their agenda. It’s no different than Palestinian terrorists hiding among women and children.
“With the average family policy in employer-provided plans now costing more than $12,000 annually—the price is usually higher for families trying to buy it on their own—the answer is plainly yes.”
$450 a month = $5,400. $12,000 > $5,400
Well, looks like we’ve been spanked. *SMIRK*
I have never heard who was at fault for the accident that led to the kids injuries. Has anyone ever posted a link to the accident report?
Having never sent children to private schools, is that a tax deductible expense?
I’m just curious.
Right out of the Rat's play book; twisting the real issue. They used same tactics with Rush's specifically "Phony Soldier" alias Jesse McBeth. It never fails!!!
Politics is a contact sport. Don’t dangle your children out there as bait if you don’t want them muddied when you are tackled for lying out loud.
It was an accident between their car and a tree. Mother driving, hit ice, skidded then hit a tree.
And the tree had no liability insurance. ;o)
EJ Dionne is a bed wetting version of Dr. Goebbels.
E.J. appears to be a man who is struggling to find truth but can not manage to do it.
When are the Democrats going to stop hiding behind human shields, and make a forthright, rational argument for what they are proposing?
Not usually.
Wow! That's exactly what the Rooty Rooter FRiberals do when conservatives point out how liberal Rooty Toot is.
I’ve not even heard it reported as “household income” instead I’ve heard it reported as “earned” which is a very important distinction.
Small business owners can, if structured correctly, thanks to GWB, pay themselves a “salary” from their business and move the rest over as as dividends ( untaxed ) from the business.
So they can perhaps tell the truth that was all they earned but it isn’t all the money they get.
There is no way in the world that someone buys a $450k house, owns all that commercial realestate and only has $45k/year income. The BS meter is past the MAN THE LIFEBOATS stage.
In fact the school is possibly getting scammed into giving them financial aid (needs based would be my guess ) and this story may well be causing them problems on that front as well. Just a hunch.
What I find remarkable about this article (and I take it from the comments that the author is a long-time liberal weenie) is that it exemplifies the left’s view of all money as the government money. The author does not see or understand the difference between tax breaks that allow someone to keep more of his own money and government handouts that offer someone things bought with someone else’s money. He (she?) repeatedly compares these two things as though they are the same.
This comparison makes perfect sense to a liberal because they really view all money as the government’s money. Therefore it doesn’t make a difference whether the government “gives” it to you directly (via a tax break) or buys things with it that it gives to you (like health care).
Sounds like she was driving too fast for road conditions.
