You have a point only if 43% or more of the teachers are gay. If only 5% or less of teachers are gay, then 5% of the teacher population is committing 43% of the offenses (35% in the U.S.A.).

Since they are talking about Gay and Male teachers, we must assume there are four groups of teacher/abusers: Gay Male, Gay Female, Straight Male, and Straight Female. If by homosexual they mean Gay Male, then 43% would imply they are the largest abuser group.

If, however, they mean both Gay Males and Gay Females together represent 43% of all abusers, it is still possible, but not clear from the data, that the largest group of abusers is Gay Male.

No, I think you just misunderstood what they were saying. Male homosexual teachers commit 43% of these crimes. Meaning that is more than the proportion committed by female homosexual teachers or heterosexual teachers of either gender.
