Stealth nuke effort should be stopped

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- In 1979, we helped organize five nights of concerts at Madison Square Garden and an anti-nuke rally that drew 200,000 people. These efforts and the ongoing work of many grassroots and national safe energy groups have helped to hold off the building of new nuclear reactors ever since.

But three decades later, we're facing the same nuclear issues. And to counter this threat, we are organizing once again.

One of America's most critical financial and ecological decisions is now before Congress. The atomic energy industry wants at least $50 billion in loan guarantees for a "new generation" of reactors that have already begun to fail, and that Wall Street won't finance....

What the hell is STEALTH about it? It’s quite open and well known that we screwed ourselves since Jane traitor bitch Fonda came out with the movie “china sydrom”.

But then that’s what we get for conducting our energy policy by Hollywood.

Let me see...the last reators where built in the 70s.

Production of new plants were halted after the 3-Mile Island incident.

Nuke plants have zero carbon emmission

Now one has died, in the U.S., as a result of a nuclear accident.

Yea lets prevent the construction of new plants...We can be dependent on oil from thier buddies, terrorist and Hugo Chevez.

BTW, why is anyone taking these washed up has-beens seriuosly?

Hippies? More like G-d da— idiots. Where do they think the electrical power for that concert comes from? Magic? We should no longer suffer the opinions of overgrown children who never finished grade school science.

I spent 84 days on the U.S.S. Triton 586 just 25 feet from one of the two reactors on the boat. We routinely carried a film badge every minute on the boat. Each month they would develop the film and measure the amount of radiation we received. On this trip we left in the middle of Feb 60. On march 1 we exchanged our film badges and the amount of radiation duely recorded. On 1 April instead of being able to measure any radiation, the film was totally negative. On 1 May the same thing happened. Both periods we were completely submerged and I next to the reactor most of this time in our CIC compartment. Also on this trip we sealed the boat and relied on internal air. After about three days, the radiation detectors began recording an increase in radiation. This continued until every alarm was active. During this period we conducted an extensive search for the radiation leak. Accidentially, a technician moved the probe across another’s wrist watch and it pegged the meter. What we had was three instrument meters and three watches with radiatoactive dials. Once they were sealed in plastic and stored in the lower attack center hatch we had no more problem.

Thus the reality was, we received all our radiation exposure from the sun rather then from our two reactors.

That is proof the liberals are nuts regarding nuclear power.

My late father’s two bumper stickers:

Nuclear reactors are built better than Jane Fonda.

More people have died in Ted Kennedy’s front seat than have been caused by nuclear power.

Written by a bunch of performers. Perfect. The only evidence they present for their statement that the new generation of nukes are failing is that the first of the new breed is over budget and behind schedule. While that is a separate problem it’s certainly not an indication of the failure of the design. The only reason Wall Street won’t finance these is because they know nutcases want to prevent them at any cost and could stop them in mid construction with lawsuits and legislation. Certainly not for any other reason. They close with a paean to wind, solar and tidal power. Yep, that’s going to power the world. /sarcasm/

Let me get this straight…

Liberals say the Earth is melting because of our energy policies and carbon emissions.

Scientist say that nuclear energy is probably the best fix for global worming.

Liberals say nuclear energy will destroy the planet.

I love it when liberals clash!!!

I interviewed everyone of these people at a “No Nukes” rally in DC in 1979. They are idiots. they were idiots then, they are idiots now. Hand wringing, whining, self-centered, idiots.

I remember what Jackson Browne said when they cuffed him in ‘79 during a demo in front of the Diablo Canyon Reactor in southern California: “Careful of the wrists.”

The ultimate example of “Shut Up and Sing.”

Geesh.
