Why men are fascinated by war
Benton County (AR) Daily Record ^ | 10/12/07 | Barbara Warner

I’ve worked with men who are Civil War buffs. And I’ve known men who talked of joining militias. Quite often, I see men casually dressed in camouflage pants.

The recent Ken Burn’s special on World War II got me wondering again why men are so fascinated by war. So I’ve been asking men...

Have fun!

BTW, this author once said in one of her columns that if Ronald Reagan was ever placed on US currency, her and her husband would move to Belize!

The short version: Boys are icky and violent. Those interested in military history have penis envy. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if women ran the world?

Could the book be subtitled:

“Why are US women more worried about their own basically good men, than those truly evil, who would enslave them if given the opportunity?”

Just a thought.

American women could do with more history classes. IMHO.

Some research suggests that men take to war as a means of competing for space and raw materials. But surely there are smarter and less costly ways to compete than going to war. Countries such as China that are aggressively situating themselves as economic players are evidence of that.

Poor example, lady. Tibet was militarily occupied and droves of ethnic Chinese relocated there to Chinese the place.

actually, men are fascinated by war for the same reason women are fascinated by childbirth -- the parallels are amazing.

men have to face war as the most likely way they will die young, just as women have to face childbirth as the most likely way they will die young.

a woman "dies" symbolically at childbirth, and becomes an adult, just as a man that has experienced war is no long the same man -- war is the ultimate rite of passage and has been since before the dawn of civilization...

Yep. If women ran the world everything would be great. Only trouble is getting those pesky muslims and chinese and indians to agree.

YEah, I just learnt that the cost of government took off when women got the vote and it has never looked back or slowed down since. I agree. For the survival of the nation, end women’t suffrage. I also say anyone that is receiving any sort of welfare benefit should be disenfranchised, as well as anyone who is unemployed.

The thing about war is that it’s LIKE a game but it is NOT a game. That’s the thing boys have to learn.

Most women unfortunately have liberal tendencies. Conservative women are rare and an exception to the rule. Men understand that there is evil and danger in this world and on occasion it needs to be fought.

“In war the only sure defense is offense, and the efficiency of the offense depends on the warlike souls of those conducting it.” General Patton

Men understand war and we know why we need to make heroes out of those who provide us with our freedom. When I find women who understand it gives me hope that they are not just being ruled by their emotions. War is hell but then again so is terrorism and tyranny.

Fascinating Bump.

All the way back to childhood. Boys pick up a stick and shoot with it. Girls pick up a stick and throw it at their older brother. Opps - well that too. But, I was thinking of them picking up objects and pretending they are animals or people and pretending with them.

Look. If the right woman came along I would vote for her in a heart beat. If the right black man came along, same thing. There’s a world of difference between that and these jokers the democrats are putting up there. Content of character, not color of skin or presence of ovaries.

As one who has entered the world of men, the girls doesn’t get it.

War is a Darwinian survival mechanism. Survival is hard wired. Those who fight live. Those who don’t perish. Perish means die or it means enslaved.

The Africans who were sold for slaves were losers who either chose not to fight or who succomed to stronger more fit African neighbors. They perished.

The way to peace is war. Once an enemy is disposed, peace will come.

What a load of bull. This is just another feminist bitching piece trying to make men look bad. There are good men and good women, and you can’t label an entire group as all good or all bad.

And the author might wanna know this—I’m female and a WW2 buff.
