How exactly does sinning “feel?”
God knows it could use it.
So why didn't the Vatican take appropriate action, if the bishops were being disobedient to the Magisterium?
From what the Monsignior says, it feels just fine.
Unfortunately, the good monsignor forgot that Rule One was still in effect at the Vatican.
That it was really him? They identified him based on the office in which he worked, but his face and voice were hidden.

Simple: because although FReeper Catholics often wish it weren’t so, both Benedict and John Paul believed in the fraternity of bishops: IOW, the bishops had their own apostolic authority, barring heresy. Not actions indicative of heretical notions, but actual heresy.
(besides, the fudge-packers were so predominant in the US, the Vatican had to be very careful to avoid schism: four of the five most prominent archbishops in America (of Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington) were probably fudge-packers. As JP2 got more and more control, he DID act more and more firmly.)
Perhaps I was not clear in my statement. The actual rule regarding homosexuality is from the Bible. The Catholic Church’s catechism is merely the REstatement of Biblical dogma. The rule is a Biblical pronouncement, restated by the church.
