I learned how to shoot a rifle today. It was a .22 Ruger.

Congratulations. You are now an official Gun Nut ... and that is indeed a Good Thing.

BTW, I have a Ruger 10/22 too. I've had it for, oh gosh, 20 years, no more than that, call it 25 years. I know it's not 30, 'cause I bought it at a sporting goods store in a mainstream indoor shopping mall in Dallas Texas, and I've only lived in Texas a few months more than 30 years, and I'm pretty sure I didn't get in the first year or two.

Originally came with a wood stock, which I've still got, but I bought a "take off" black stock at a gun show. Taken off by a guy who would also replace the barrel with a heavy target barrel and add a target stock as well. He basically kept the stainless receiver and built from their. Changes the entire look of the rifle. Add a big old curved 25 round magazine, or even just a straight 10 rounder in place of the original 10 round rotary, and it begins to look like an Eveeel Assault weapon.
